Electronics Engineer
Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) · 2024-08 – Present · San Diego, CA
Technical lead for test and inspection of the AN/SPY-1 radar on Navy destroyers and cruisers. The job is field service on someone else's schedule: go where the equipment is, isolate the fault, teach the crew what I did, and leave the system working.
- Serve as the technical lead for test and inspection of the SPY-1 radar, and the point of contact ships call when the system goes down.
- Diagnose and resolve transmitter and signal-processor faults on live hardware, working through the fix alongside the crew who operate it rather than handing over a report.
- Travel on short notice to ships with emergent tasking in United States and overseas ports to restore radar capability, often with days of warning and no fixed return date.
- Coordinate a multi-level group on every visit — enlisted technicians, commanding officers, NAVSEA engineers, program managers and private contractor representatives — onto a single agreed repair plan.
- Train the ship's crew on the maintenance practices they need once the ship deploys and no engineer is aboard.
